This may sound weird, but as I get older, I feel more tree-like.

I used to feel more like an animal–running here and there, hoarding resources or building shelter and constantly assessing other animals.

I also know that trees are similar to animals–despite appearances, they communicate/act/feed/excrete and do many of the things that animals do. I guess I just feel more rooted, more like I’m supporting things in a subtler manner, and just enjoying myself wherever I happen to be.

  1. Not weird at all. There comes a point where you quit running around proving yourself and chasing the next thing. Getting older teaches you that roots are what let you grow. And most days, the best thing you can give the people around you is just being there.

  2. Love this writeup! Thanks!

  3. Whoa. A different perspective. Kinda deep, like roots and cicada larvae. Thanks for sharing!

  4. That sounds good 👍🏽
