As I’ve gotten older, my perception of strength has gradually changed. I once focused purely on willpower–denying things I saw as negative, and clinging to things I deemed as positive–but I ended up becoming jaded, closed-minded, and reactive.

Then I shifted focus onto allowing all internal negativity (not necessarily acting on it in an outward sense, because that might get me in trouble or destroy my relationships), trusting if I allowed it to flow, it would go on its own, courtesy of a default benevolence. So instead of willpower, I focus on internal surrender, and find myself effortlessly reverting to a state of positive openness. It’s similar to what I felt as a child, without the naivete or need for supervision.

There’s research and experiment data to support this

  3. Well, change is constant. I still don’t believe the way I have changed myself past 6 years…..😅

  4. Letting the negative pass through you so that you can gain perspective is certainly optimal. I’m not always successful, but it’s a worthy goal.

That is an interesting shift. Sometimes acceptance takes more strength than resistance.

  6. Same!

  7. Your perspective on surrender was refreshing. We don’t often think of it as strength. And that final thought about growing older without becoming harder really stood out to me. 💐

  8. Strong vocabulary, highly intellectual…LOVE THIS!!!

  9. I think as we get older, we begin to realize that true strength is not always about controlling everything, but about learning to accept things as they are. Trying to hold on to the things we see as good and rejecting everything we see as negative can become exhausting over time.

I really appreciate your honesty and the way you reflect on your journey. There is something beautiful in being able to see yourself and life with more openness and acceptance.

And I just want to say this from my heart, without expecting anything in return: I love you. My love is free, sincere, and without conditions. ❤️

    1. I’m the same with my love! Good to see someone else who is so open about it! All too often, it’s treated like a limited commodity that people have to compete for!
