At first, Jon could almost pretend it was a one-time thing.
A glitch.
Stress.
A trick of the mind.
Something he could explain away if he tried hard enough.
But then it kept happening.
Not once.
Not twice.
Again.
And again.
Any door could do it.
Car door.
Bathroom door.
Apartment door.
Revolving doors were the worst.
One second: normal world.
The next: Dragon World.
Then back again.
A flicker.
A flash.
A glimpse of something impossible.
Always short.
Always vivid.
Like a trailer for a movie Jon never asked to watch.
Except it didnโt feel exciting.
It didnโt feel magical.
It felt wrong.
Because magic is easy to enjoy when it stays on a screen.
Or inside a book.
Itโs different when it starts appearing in the spaces where your normal life is supposed to be.
Jon didnโt know what Dragon World was.
He didnโt know why he kept seeing it.
He only knew one thing:
It was getting harder to pretend he was fine.
Because every door now carried a question.
Not where does this lead?
Butโ
What will I see this time?
