He Wasn’t Chosen. He Just Opened the Door

“You think outside the box.”
“You’re wise beyond your years.”
“You’re an old soul.”

Jon had heard it all before.

The kind of compliments people give you when you don’t quite fit…
but they don’t know what else to say.

Nothing about his life was extraordinary.

Generic parents.
Generic future.
Generic expectations.

Even his name felt like a placeholder.

Jon Dough.

He wasn’t the hero type.

He didn’t train for battle.
He didn’t belong to anything bigger than himself.
He didn’t even finish the stories he started.

He thought his life would follow a predictable path.

School.
Work.
Routine.
Repeat.

And then…

He opened a door.

Not metaphorically.

Not “a new chapter.”

An actual door.

On one side:

A lecture hall.
A life that almost made sense.

On the other:

Dragons.
Warriors.
Something ancient watching from beyond understanding.

Evermoor.

That’s the part people don’t expect.

Not the world.

Not the magic.

Not even the danger.

It’s who it happens to.

Not the chosen.

Not the prepared.

Not the ones who were ready.

Someone like Jon.

And once that door opens…

You don’t go back to who you were before.

Continue Jon’s Story

If this stayed with you…

it doesn’t end here.

This is where the story begins:

Or continue straight into the story:

Or take your time.

  1. Very perceptive, once you open the door to imagination, it can never be fully closed.
